Focus on Gabrielle Teare – Personal Stylist blog

Gabrielle Teare is a London personal stylist and personal shopper, and has her own blog – Gabrielle Teare – Personal Stylist. She has styled and provided editorial for private clients, rock bands, and for photo shoots, and two films for Disney.

This week FeaturesExec caught up with Gabrielle to discuss her work, her blog, PRs and Response Source. We also find out what she’d most like to have a go at and what she hopes to do doing in five years time.

You and your blog:

Tell us a bit about Gabrielle Teare – Personal Stylist:
Gabrielle Teare Personal Stylist is a Premier Fashion and Beauty blog for upmarket men and women. It is very highly ranked and covers fashion trends, catwalk fashion, beauty, cosmetics, jewellery, men’s styling and style tips. I provide styling and fashion editorial Internationally. For example: http://www.elmundo.es/yodona/albumes/2009/08/31/personal_shopper/index.html this is a 9 page fashion and style article featuring me that appeared on Spain’s biggest fashion site.

What was your motivation behind starting the blog?
I love fashion! I seriously do and just wanted to write about it and share some style tips with my readers.

The inspiration for my site was Rene Gruau a great Fashion Illustrator. I saw his illustrations at the Negresco in Nice and loved them! My blog is the only hand illustrated site and readers love it.

Who reads it and how many of them are there?
I get 500,000 hits/month. It has a huge International and UK audience. From teens to women in their 60’s, also many men follow the style articles. I attract people as well from all the major International magazines and sites who feature me see above or I write for.

What subjects do you cover?
Fashion/Style/Catwalk/Mens Style/Jewellery/Make up/Seasonal Trends/Beauty.

What makes you different from other blogs in your sector?
I am a stylist as well as a fashion expert. Most are not. A lot of people’s blogs and sites in my sector are not very professionally written or looking. I was a designer and I am very creative and visual. I go to London Fashion Week, I was featured there on Fashion TV Feb 09 and hence know my subject inside out. I style and/or do editorial for private clients, rock bands, and for photo shoots, and recently two films for Disney..

Why do you blog?
Mainly because I love it. Also to get clients and more traffic.

What are your favourite blogs?
Hautemimi.Com
Thefashionspot.com
Nolcha.Com
Sheknows.com
iVillage.com
Bluetramontanastyle.blogspot.it

I am fashion director or have written for all of these as well.

About PRs:

Do you work closely with PRs?
Yes. I have done many articles and fashion shoots through PR connections.

Do you have any advice for PRs?
Response Source is very good, so easy to access. I get 100’s of emails so title has to grab.

What information/input from PRs is most useful to you?
I use the fashion and beauty to review products and write about new designers etc many of my articles have come from an original Response Source email.

What’s the best starting point for a PR who wants to tell you about their client?
“Hi Gabrielle !!”

Seriously to keep it brief, factual, great copy in the title, good pics.

When is the best time for PRs to contact you & what is your deadline for contributions?
If I don’t have a client any time, if I do I ring them back. No deadline as such.

About you:

Do you have a day job?
I am the Leading London Personal Stylist and Personal Shopper.

A phrase I use far too often is…
One day you will be 70……. So let’s look gorgeous now.

I’d like to have a go at…
I want to go to John Galliano, I have applied can’t wait. I also love the Paris shops.

Where do you hope to be in five year’s time?
I am really happy now!! I absolutely love what I do, love the writing, love the clients. I would like to do more feature writing as well.
