The Birmingham consultancy’s Fresh Award successes are spearheaded with six gold nods for the Media Innovation, Online Film, Illustration, Broadcast Innovation, Fresh Faces Design and Fresh Faces Advertising categories. Seven silver awards and six bronze awards completing the whitewash.
Amongst the McCann campaigns recognised in the awards was the Vauxhall Astra GTC ‘pitch invasion’ advert (Media Innovation), which utilised 3D mats at Wembley Stadium and appeared as if it were a broadcast error during half-time of England v Wales at Wembley Stadium.
Additionally, McCann’s Fresh Mums campaign, which was designed as an online call for entries to the Fresh Awards, picked up gold for best Online Film. The campaign consists of a series of three films using the actual mums of three well known Creative Directors throughout the regions, documenting their disappointment at their offspring having chosen advertising as a career, each ending with the line: ‘Make your mum proud for once’.
