Assistant news editors join The Times
Two former London Paper staff have joined The Times this week as assistant news editors.
Eva Simpson, formerly assistant editor for the London Paper, and Mark Wilkinson, who was news editor at the daily free paper, joined on Monday.
The Times has also appointed former England cricketer Ed Smith as a lead writer. Smith’s last column for former employer, the Daily Telegraph, was last Saturday (3 October 2009). He will start on 30 November 2009 but it is not yet known what he will write about.
The paper has also dropped its Diary page as of last week. Editor, James Harding, didn’t feel it fitted with the publication’s news agenda. Diary editor Adam Sherwin will become a general reporter.
