BBC News appoints head of programmes

BBC News has appointed Ceri Thomas as head of programmes. 

Thomas was previously editor of The Today Programme and will take up the role on 18 March.  Jasmin Buttar – currently deputy editor of the Radio 4 programme – is acting editor until a successor is found.
