BBC Newsnight appoints economics correspondent

BBC Newsnight has appointed Duncan Weldon as economics correspondent.

Weldon is currently senior economist at the TUC. He previously worked as a fund manager and advisor to the Labour Party and has written for the Financial Times, The Independent, The Guardian, City A.M. and Investment Week.

In addition to providing coverage of economics, Weldon will continue to blog on economic matters as part of his role.

Weldon will begin at Newsnight in late April and can be found tweeting @DuncanWeldon.
