Kate Squire is to replace John Ryan as editor of BBC Radio Manchester.

It was announced last month that John Ryan was to leave the station to start his own consultancy and production company, leaving at the end of March.

Squire, who is currently Head of Local Radio Development, will take up Ryan’s position in April. She has been at the BBC for the past 20 years and in her current role for one of those years.
