Cambridge Evening News appoints editor
The Cambridge Evening News has appointed Paul Brackley as editor.
Assistant editor John Deex will be promoted to deputy editor of the paper where he has had been filling in as day-to-day editor since Murray Morse left.
Brackley was the Hertfordshire Mercury Series editor where Staffordshire Newspapers MD Gary Matthews replaces him on 3 November.
As MD, Matthews oversaw the running of titles including the Burton Mail, Ashbourne News Telegraph and Staffordshire Newsletter. He took over from previous MD Jim Black in March 2006, joining from Herts and Essex where he had been for 18 years.
Iliffe News and Media, parent company of both Cambridge News and Staffordshire Newspapers will also become a single operating division within Iliffe.
They will be managed by a new divisional managing director, Graham Ayres, who is currently the MD of Cambridge Newspapers and former finance director of Iliffe News and Media.
