Orion Media’s Beacon Radio West Midlands and Beacon Shropshire are to share the same programme schedule from next Monday 5 July.

Changes are as follows: The Fresh & Jo breakfast programme and James Carpenter’s drivetime show, previously only on Beacon Radio West Midlands, will now be broadcast on both stations. Mark Somers, who previously presented Shropshire’s breakfast show, will now present the mid-afternoon slot on both stations. Tom Newitt’s mid-morning show, previously only on Beacon Radio Shropshire and Wyvern FM, will now be networked on all three stations.

Local news and sports bulletins, local weather and local travel output for both Shropshire and the Black Country will continue. There will also continue to be separate programming for both stations where football fixtures demand.

Orion Media stated: “We believe that Beacon will now be geared to provide an even more entertaining, successful and well-resourced service which truly belongs to the larger area.”
