Changes at the Evening Standard
Evening Standard senior reporter Valentine Low is leaving after 21 years to join The Times as royal reporter, as well as writing general news reports. Low will replace Alan Hamilton who is retiring.
Amar Singh has been promoted to the role of senior reporter. Singh is currently the paper’s media correspondent, a role he was promoted to last year following the departure of Alexa Baracaia. The role is not expected to be filled.
Sri Carmichael has been announced as the Evening Standard’s royal reporter. Carmichael, who is currently a general reporter, will replace Robert Jobson who is joining the News of the World.
Pippa Crerar has been promoted to City Hall editor. The move is expected to be temporary, with Pippa covering the first few months of Boris Johnson’s tenure as London mayor, before returning to her previous role as political correspondent. Katherine Barney has been appointed City Hall reporter.
The Evening Standard is published by Associated Newspaper and has a circulation of 284,030.
