The Independent has recruited James Thompson as business reporter, covering retail, consumer goods and commercial property.

Thompson was previously news editor at trade magazine Retail Week, where he has been replaced by Jennifer Creevy.

Christian Broughton has become acting features editor, replacing Guy Adams, who has taken up a role as The Independent’s LA correspondent.

Rebecca Armstrong takes on Broughton’s previous beat as property, science and technology editor.

The Independent is published daily from Monday to Saturday by Independent News & Media.
