The Sun has made changes to its sports desk.

Shaun Custis becomes head of sports content. He was previously chief football writer.

Paul Hudson is now sport’s head of publishing at the paper.

The appointments follow the scrapping of the traditional sports editor role, with Custis and Hudson sharing the responsibilities. They replace Mike Dunn who is moving to the Independent after the World Cup.

Dean Scoggins has been appointed as Hudson’s deputy. He joined the paper in 2006 as a sub-editor.
