Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show launches UK’s first tailored playlist
The Christian O'Connell Breakfast Show, which broadcasts weekday mornings across the network of seven Absolute Radio stations, will now feature a choice of seven different playlists.
Listeners will be able to choose the decade of music they hear during the show by selecting to listen to the programme on either Absolute 60s, Absolute 70s, Absolute 80s, Absolute 90s or Absolute 00s, a genre-specific playlist on Absolute Classic Rock or a more mixed playlist on the main station.
Following development work by the team at One Golden Square and RCS, the timing of songs on Absolute Radio can be matched by songs of the same duration from other playlists via RCS' GSelector music scheduling software. All other aspects of the show's content including live links, features and news bulletins will continue to be simulcast on each station.
Absolute Radio’s content director Tony Moorey said: “For the first time we’re able to do what we’ve always wanted to – combine entertainment from award-winning broadcasters with music that the listeners to all seven of our stations love.”
