The Birmingham Post and Birmingham Mail's cricket writer Brian Halford will leave the group next week after his position was made redundant.

Halford departs after 15 years covering Warwickshire County Cricket Club firstly for the Post and then since 2004 for the Mail and, in recent years, both papers as well as the Sunday Mercury and Coventry Telegraph.

Halford also covered Birmingham City for the Post before joining the Mail where he combined Warwickshire duties with a feature-writing brief and covered Walsall FC for Trinity Mirror Midlands.
