Steve Singleton, editor of the Lytham St Annes Express and Fleetwood Weekly News titles, has left the papers.

Steve has worked for the Blackpool Gazette for 37 years – beginning his long career as an 18-year-old junior reporter .

Having been born, bred and educated on the Fylde Coast, he spent 12 years at the Lytham St Annes Express before transferring to the Gazette as assistant news editor.

He latterly became news editor and then supplements editor – a responsibility he retained on taking control of the two weekly Johnston Press titles in May 2009, when Express and Weekly News editor Garry Miller left the company.

Both the Weekly News and the Express were among the best performing JP North West titles last year for newspaper sales.

It was announced this week that a number of editors would be leaving Johnston Press titles in the area as part of a widespread shake-up.
