Mervyn Kay has retired from his position as editor of the Accrington Observer after nearly 30 years.

Kay took voluntary redundancy after it was announced the paper would be moving from the local office to a centralised hub in Manchester’s Scott Place. Stuart Robertson will replace Mervyn whilst continuing to edit the Rossendale Free Press.

Also within MEN Media, Kate Stirrup has taken voluntary redundancy at Trafford Metro News and will leave at the end of next week. Paul Harrsion, editor of the Stockport Express and Times, will take over the editorial responsibilities whilst continuing to work on the Stockport papers. These titles will also move from local offices to Scott Place.
