Guardian creates head of news role
Guardian deputy editor Paul Johnson has been promoted to the newly created role of head of news, business and sport.
Johnson will oversee plans for further news team integration across the Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk website.
Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger remains editor in chief of the Guardian News & Media Group (GNM), which publishes all three publications, and John Mulholland and Emily Bell remain as the editors of the Observer and guardian.co.uk respectively.
Four new heads of national news, business, sport and international news will be appointed to work across all three titles at a later date.
The changes come as GNM prepares to move to a new North London base in November.
