Hull Daily Mail editor to leave
John Meehan, editor of Northcliffe’s Hull Daily Mail, is leaving the title.
Meehan leaves the role in mid-October when he will be replaced by current editorial director of Cumbrian Newspapers Media Group, Neil Hodgkinson.
Meehan has been an editor at Northcliffe Media for 14 years, also working on the Express and Echo in Exeter before taking on the role at the Hull Daily Mail. He has also been the regional editorial director of Northcliffe’s operation in the North East for the past five years.
Hodgkinson began his career at the West Lancashire Evening Gazette. He then joined the Lancashire Evening Post as news editor in 1987, later becoming deputy editor. He is a former editor of the Lancashire Evening Post and Yorkshire Evening Post. He became editorial director at Cumbrian Newspapers in 2006.
