Johnston Press will be trialling a newsroom restructure across a series of its Midlands titles.

Under the plan journalists will work for two units in charge of different newspapers, rather than for individual titles. The Derbyshire unit will be responsible for titles including the Derbyshire Times, Matlock Mercury, Buxton Advertiser, Ripley and Heanor News, Belper News, Eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser and Ilkeston Advertiser, while the north Nottinghamshire unit will be covering the Mansfield & Ashfield Chad, Worksop Guardian and Hucknall Dispatch.

There will another central unit covering entertainments, community news, ad features and sport working across all the titles in the region.
