Johnston Press promotes Joy Yates

Johnston Press has promoted North-East editor Joy Yates to group editor of five titles in the south of the region.

Yates, editor of the Hartlepool Mail, Sheilds Gazette and the weekly Peterlee Star Series will now have overall responsiblity for the Sunderland Echo.

John Szymanski remains in his position as editor of the title.
