Johnston Press is due to relaunch Bourne's weekly title The Local as "the people's paper" with as much as 75% user-generated content.

It is expected that a vast increase of readers from the local community will contribute their own articles, reviews and photos.

Codenamed the "Bourne Experiment", the submissions will be overseen and curated by existing journalists, and if successful could be rolled out as a new format for other small weekly newspapers.  

Currently around 25% of the content for the paper is already user-generated.
