Johnston Press has appointed Nicola Furbisher as managing editor of its Yorkshire publishing region.

Joining on 7 October, Furbisher will report to Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post editor Jeremy Clifford, working across both of said titles. She will help to manage the day to day operation, deputise for Clifford, co-ordinate all of the publishing activity across editorial, advertising and newspaper sales, and extend the publisher's brands into the community.

Furbisher was previously editor of the Derbyshire Times and deputy editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Ian Day has also been appointed as assistant editor of the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post. Remaining in charge of the picture desk, his role will include identifying greater ways of sharing content, helping to shape the strategic development of both titles.
