The Star (Sheffield) reporter Paul Thompson is retiring.

Thompson has been reporting on local football team Sheffield Wednesday for the paper for the last 34 years.

Reporter Dom Howson, who has previously worked for the Yorkshire Evening Post and Press Association in Howden, will take his place.

Howson said: "Paul has been a top bloke and been a super operator. It's my job now to build on his fine work. I will look to inform you of all the latest developments in S6. Fans can look forward to exclusive interviews, quirky features and more Owls videos than ever before on our website."

Howson can be found tweeting @domhowson.
