Major shake-up to BBC Radio 5 live as Bacon, Derbyshire and Fogarty to leave

BBC Radio 5 Live

BBC Radio 5 live will relaunch its daytime line-up from the Autumn when current presenters Richard Bacon, Victoria Derbyshire and Shelagh Fogarty move on from the station.

Bacon will be co-presenting a primetime BBC One series, 'The Big Picture', with Sherlock actress Una Stubbs. Derbyshire will be moving to a role within BBC News, while Fogarty is considering opportunities within the corporation and externally. The three presenters will be replaced by two fresh programmes.

5 live Daily will be broadcast Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 13:00 and will focus on the day's national and international news stories through interviews, debate and reports. The programme will be presented by Adrian Chiles on Monday and Tuesday, while current 5 live Drive host Peter Allen will present Wednesday through Friday.

Afternoon Edition will follow on Monday to Thursday from 13:00 to 16:00, presented by BBC Sport's Dan Walker and BBC Northern Ireland's Sarah Brett. The programme will feature news and analysis from across the UK and interviews with well-known guests.

On Fridays from 13:00 to 14:00, Eleanor Oldroyd will host The Friday Sports Panel. She will be joined weekly by sporting personalities to preview the weekend's sport fixtures. Kermode and Mayo's Film Review will continue in the Friday 14:00 slot.

With Peter Allen moving to daytimes, Anna Foster will be joined by Tony Livesey every Monday to Friday 16:00 to 19:00 on 5 live Drive. Chris Warburton will replace Livesey on Saturday morning's 5 live Weekend Breakfast and Oldroyd will be the replacement on Sunday mornings.

Other changes to the 5 live schedule include former Guardian sportswriter Georgie Thompson and comedian Josh Widdicombe joining the presentation team of Fighting Talk.

Mark Chapman will replace Dan Walker as host of 5 live Sport on Fridays, with Jonathan Overend taking up the same role on Sundays. In addition, John Murray will become a football correspondent for the station.

These changes will commence in October 2014.
