Manchester Evening News introduces digital-first plan

Manchester Evening News will adopt Trinity Mirror's proposal for a digital-first newsroom.

'Newsroom 3.1' will bring changes to the editorial team, with some roles being advertised, including the post of Manchester United editor.

The scheme entails a 'digital-first' approach throughout the newsroom, where web content is reverse-published in to the following day's print edition.

MEN aims to provide more in-depth and 'behind the headlines' coverage of both United and City and have freed content managers and creators to focus their time on creating digital content in these areas.

Stuart Mathieson's position as Manchester United writer is unaffected by the changes.
