Matt Barbet returns to 5 News

Channel 5 has rehired Matt Barbet to front the channel's rebranded nightly news programme 5 News Tonight from 28 April.

Barbet was previously a presenter and correspondent at 5 News from 2007 to 2012, before joining ITV's Daybreak.

5 News Tonight replaces NewsTalk Live, which began in July last year. The 18:30 programme will include reports from correspondents, live updates and interviews with news guests. Current NewsTalk Live anchor Emma Crosby will continue as presenter on 5 News at 5.
