New board appointment at Euro RSCG PR

Nigel Hughes has joined Euro RSCG PR as board director based at its Manchester office following the departure of Julie McGuckian to a senior position at Manchester Business School.

Hughes is one of the most well-known and respected PR professionals in the region having held senior positions at some of the North of England’s biggest and most successful agencies. He started his career at a Euro RSCG company, achieving success for clients as diverse as Whitbread, the Co-op and British Steel.

His most recent agency position was as managing director of Rattle PR in Manchester where he delivered national and regional PR campaigns for blue chip brands and companies including Taylor Wimpey, JD Sports, Hoover Candy, N Brown Group and Bruntwood.

For the past two years he has operated as a consultant, advising PR agencies on creative thinking, strategic PR and how to make social media and online PR relevant to their clients.

Commenting on his appointment Euro RSCG managing director, Brian Beech, said: “I have worked with Nigel twice before so didn’t need to take up his references. He is one of the most talented PR operators I know. And he’s a great bloke too. Pre-season signings don’t come much better!”

Hughes is excited at the prospect of re-entering consultancy life.  “My professional passion is making PR work in tandem with advertising and digital marketing campaigns so Euro is the perfect agency for me as it is uniquely integrated.  I’m looking forward to linking up with Brian again and an exciting new challenge.”

Hughes’ appointment follows a series of high profile business wins for Euro including Thomas Cook, DFS, Hobbycraft, and Staples.
