Trinity Mirror’s Media Wales division will launch a new weekly freesheet for Cardiff on 20 August with an expected print run of 52,000.

The Echo Extra will replace the Cardiff Post and will look to complement the paid-for South Wales Echo.

Mike Hill, editor of both titles, said: “The Extra, with its fresh design which closely allies it to the daily title, will carry significantly more news, features and sport than the Post.”
