News International to launch Sun app

News International plan to launch a Sun app for smartphones and tablets in the next three months.

The launch was announced by Nick Bell, News International’s head of digital products, at the Dublin Web Summit. It aims to give users a more ‘liquid experience’ between print, web, and mobile devices.

The app will use existing content from the paper and will be available on Apple and Android products.

The Sun is currently available only in PDF format on tablets. The app will bring The Sun into line with The Times and Sunday Times which have 111,000 subscribers to their iPad products.
