BBC Newsnight has appointed The Guardian's Nick Hopkins as investigations correspondent.

Hopkins is investigations editor at The Guardian, where he has worked since 1998, and has held roles including national news editor and deputy foreign editor at the paper. He was a member of the team that investigated the Edward Snowden files.
