Picture desk merges at Glasgow-based papers
The Newsquest-owned Herald & Times Group has merged the picture desks of its three Glasgow-based newspapers, the Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times.
Picture desk staff from the newspapers will this week start work in the new centre, overseeing all non-text content across print and the web.
The desk will be run by former Evening Times picture editor John Young, who was appointed group multimedia editor in April.
The desk will also be responsible for the gathering and organisation of user-generated content submitted to the Herald Group’s series of community websites.
In addition to the picture desk merger, a combined website for the Herald and Sunday Herald newspapers will be launched later in the year. The former deputy editor of the Sunday Herald, David Milne, has been appointed online editor for the new site.
