Press and Journal announces editor

Press and Journal (Aberdeen) has appointed Damian Bates as editor.

Bates is currently editor of sister title the Evening Express, also based in Aberdeen. He will begin his new role on 1 March.

He succeeds Derek Tucker, who announced his retirement from the Scottish daily last November, and officially left last Friday, 14 January. Tucker had served as editor for 18 years.
