Largs & Millport Weekly News editor Drew Cochrane will retire in September on the 40th anniversary of his appointment at the newspaper. 

David Carnduff will take over as acting editor, working with digital editor Calum Corral.

Prior to joining Largs & Millport Weekly News, Cochrane as served five years as a reporter at the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald, and is also a former chairman of the Guild of Editors and Society of Editors in Scotland, chairman of the Scottish Committee of the National Council for the Training of Journalists and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish newspaper industry.
