Rival Birmingham freesheet to launch
Trinity Mirror’s BPM Media has introduced new freesheet Birmingham Post Lite. The free version of the weekly Birmingham Post will be available from this Thursday and is intended to rival Friday’s launch of the Birmingham Press from entrepreneur Chris Bullivant.
Post Lite will be distributed to 18,000 homes in upmarket areas such as Solihull, Harborne, Moseley and Sutton Coldfield, the same circulation area as the Birmingham Press, which aims to deliver 20,000 copies.
The newspaper will contain general news from south Birmingham with features and leisure content, as well as some editorial from sister paper the Post and its property supplement.
This follows Trinity Mirror’s decision to close its Living magazine last week in order to respond to the expected competition from Bullivant’s Birmingham Press. Staff at the former title are now working on the newly launched Birmingham Post Lite.
