William Lewis has been named as the new managing editor at Telegraph Media Group.

The role will involve Lewis overseeing the company’s digital businesses from a new “entrepreneurial unit” in Euston. He will remain editor in chief of the Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and their respective websites.

As a result, Tony Gallagher has been promoted to editor of the Daily Telegraph. Gallagher had been deputy editor of the paper, although he has been responsible for editing the paper whilst William Lewis was away. Benedict Brogan, formerly assistant editor and chief political correspondent, is now Gallagher’s deputy. Ian MacGregor remains editor of the Sunday Telegraph.
