Sun on Sunday has appointed Dan Wooton, former showbiz editor at News of the World, as showbiz editor.

Wooton will launch a double-page column that replaces Gordon Smart’s 'Bizarre' column in the Sunday edition. 'Bizarre' will continue to run from Monday to Saturday.

The column is expected to debut by the beginning of August to coincide with the launch of The Sun’s paywall.

Wooton will leave his post as editor-at-large of Now magazine and as a columnist for the Daily Mail. He will continue to feature on ITV's weekday morning show, Lorraine.
