Shropshire Star appoints editor

Martin Wright has been appointed editor of the Shropshire Star.

He takes up the role on 6 May when current editor Keith Harrison leaves to become editor of the Express & Star, following the departure of Adrian Faber. Faber has held this role since 2009.

Wright is currently associate editor at independent group NWN Media, which includes The Leader and covers Wrexham, Flintshire and Chester.

He has previously worked for the Shropshire Star as a reporter before moving to become deputy editor at the County Times in Mid-Wales.

He later edited the Oswestry & Border Counties Advertizer and the County Times before being appointed deputy editor for Leader and Cheshire Publications.

In his new position he will be based at the Star’s head office in Ketley, Telford, and will have responsibility for managing the evening newspaper editorial team across nine offices, as well as the management of the portfolio of 12 weekly newspapers.
