British Sky Broadcasting has appointed well respected industry journalist Simon King as its new PR advisor, working across the Sky independents division.

Simon, who also edits retra’s Alert magazine, runs Simon King Media, a PR/journalism consultancy. He also worked on trade title ERT for 11 years.

Barry Shuter, Sky’s national sales controller, said: “I am very pleased that Simon has chosen to join the team at Sky and I wish him well.

“He has a proven track record, and is well placed to communicate our message to the retail trade, as Sky looks to engage with more independent retailers.”

Simon said: “I have been a long admirer of Sky; its proposition in the digital TV market is second to none and I look forward to communicating its key messages to the trade.”
