Manchester-based Smoking Gun PR has been appointed by international snowsports brand Mountain Hardwear.

A subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear International, Mountain Hardwear is gearing up for major UK expansion with the creation of a dedicated business team, following years of being sold under licence, and the launch of a showroom in the Lake District.

Smoking Gun PR will handle all consumer public relations in the UK, working alongside the in-house team which handles trade and specialist media. The brief includes broadening the clothing and apparel brand’s appeal from its climbing heritage into a variety of key snowsport and alpinist sectors. The team will look after seasonal product launches, media sample service and amplification of major events and athlete expeditions. Agencies have also been appointed in other key European territories.
