The Southern Daily Echo’s court reporter John Hoskins has retired after half a century in the industry.

Hoskins began his career in 1965 and has since reported on some of Hampshire’s biggest court cases and seen some of its most dangerous criminals put behind bars.

Ian Murray, editor in chief, said: “I am honoured to have been one of a string of editors who have had the privilege to work with John over the years.”
