The Guardian appoints political columnist

The Guardian has appointed Rafael Behr as political columnist starting later this month.

Behr will write a weekly political column and contribute regularly to the 'Comment is Free' section.

He is currently political editor at the New Statesman and will be replaced by George Eaton, editor of the New Statesman's politics blog 'The Staggers', upon his departure.

Behr's contact details at the Guardian will be announced in due course.
