The Independent launches i100

The Independent has launched a Buzzfeed-style website designed for mobiles, tablets and desktops.

The i100 site allows readers to rank stories using an 'upvote' system.

Three journalists will work on the site full-time, but contributions from other online and newspaper journalists will also be featured.

The Independent's digital editor Christian Broughton has led the launch of the site and said: "This was a unique opportunity to deliver authoritative news using a new way to read, share, suggest and vote on stories. The result is a site that makes the most of the very best of social media."
