The Press and Journal has launched a website aimed at providing readers with breaking news in a timeline format.

The focus of the website is to deliver real time breaking news, including a 'trending topics' section and exclusive video content.

The subscription-based site will allow users to formulate their own news timeline based on topics and geographical areas they are most interested in. The site will be functional across web, phone and tablet platforms and will operate on a metered paywall basis, allowing the reader ten free articles before choosing from one of three subscription packages.

Editor-in-chief Damian Bates has said, "The newspaper is still a central focus at The Press and Journal and we have more readers now than we did five years ago. This website will complement the print offering and has been designed to offer our tech savvy readers instant access to the latest news when they want it."
