Mara Media has appointed Niall Duffy as editor of The Skipper.

Based in Castletownbere, Duffy has spent the last 30 years in various roles within the fishing and marine industries both in Ireland and further afield. He began his fishing career in Killybegs and since then has been a regular contributor to The Skipper and other publications including the Marine Times and Fishing News.

Hugh Bonner, MD at Mara Media, said of the appointment: " I have always liked Niall’s blunt and sensible approach to reporting the issues affecting our industry and feel that his strong commitment to promoting our industry will be reflected in The Skipper’s pages over the coming years. The Skipper is celebrating 50 years of publication in March 2014 and I feel with Niall at the helm, the future is in safe hands."
