The Sun’s new editor, Dominic Mohan, has promoted associate editors Simon Cosyns and Geoff Webster to be joint deputy editors.

Mohan, who was appointed editor last month following the promotion of Rebekah Brooks to chief executive of News International, announced the promotions last week.

Cosyns was appointed group associate editor of the Sun in 2003 after being hired from the Daily Mirror. At the Daily Mirror he was art director and had previously worked for News International having started at the Sun in 1987.

Webster moved to the Sun from the News of the World, where he had held the title of head of pictures.
