The Sun to introduce more free online content
The Sun is set to introduce more free online content two years after introducing its paywall.
News UK’s chief executive Mark Darcey told staff on 19 June that select digital content will be made available for free on the website.
Darcey said: "Much of this content will be generated on a bespoke basis by new teams, but editors will also be able to deploy other Sun stories, especially ones well covered by competitors. Expect to see early moves of this kind in the areas of general news and sports.”
The extra content will add to the Sun’s existing free online content including its DreamTeam output, various charity campaigns and political site SunNation.co.uk.
