Times reporter joins Observer

The Observer has appointed Rajeev Syal as investigations editor.

Syal, who is currently a senior reporter at The Times, will join the Observer in late summer. He replaces Anthony Barnett, who now works on Channel 4 documentary programme Dispatches.

Syal has previously written for the Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph.
