Yorkshire Post Newspapers head of news moves to pastures new

Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post's Rebecca Whittington will leave her position as news editor at the newspapers at the end of October.

Whittington will offer media consultancy for small and medium sized businesses and PR firms from the start of November. She will be advising on media strategy and social media, offering one-to-one media training, advice and writing and editing commissions, as well as giving the inside scoop on what makes a newsroom tick. Whittington will also be doing a PhD investigating the impact of digital reporting tools on regional media and working as a teaching assistant in journalism at Leeds Trinity University. 

She has previously worked as former editor of weekly titles including The Pontefract and Castleford Express and spent a decade working as a reporter, news editor, editor and video journalist for some of Yorkshire's newspaper and digital titles. 

A replacement for Whittington at Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post has not yet been confirmed.
