Perspective’s Project Engage Well Received At Conservative Party Conference
Perspective’s sponsored fringe event at this years Conservative Party Conference was well received by all attendees, including an audience consisting of influential political figures, National newspaper journalists and members of the public.
Present at the event as part of the panel were Edward Garnier QC MP, Shadow Minister for Justice, Jonathan Aitken, former MP and Rob Owen, Chief Executive, St. Giles Trust. All were there to show their support and views on Perspective’s Project Equal Engage, an initiative developed with the target of lowering re-offending rates within the UK.
Learning management experts Perspective implemented Project Equal Engage in the south east region of the UK, the initiative focusing on providing pre and post-release support for individuals within the prison system. The results of the trial were striking. Over the 6 month live period of the trial, 277 beneficiaries of the scheme were released from prison, with only 6.6% re-offending, rather than the expected 35%.
Re-offending rates in the UK currently cost the economy over £10billion every year, an enormous figure. The trial found that if the results of Project Equal Engage were replicated nationwide, the amount of spending on re-offenders could be cut by as much as 80%.
Jim Davis, Chairman of Perspective, commented: “The fringe event was well received by every member of the audience and, with the panelists supporting the cause, it’s clear to see that reducing re-offending and cutting the subsequent cost to the public is high on the agenda of the Conservative Party. Project Equal Engage was a huge success and we hope to implant another trial in the near future to back up the initial results.”
