Allianz hires new Regional Head of Property in London from XL

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has expanded its property underwriting team with the appointment of Matthias Horntrich, previously of XL Insurance, as Regional Head of Property, based in 30 St Mary Axe. Matthias joins the Regional Property team on the 1st December, 2009.

Matthias’s new role will have responsibility for the 20-strong team of UK underwriters, who are based at 30 St Mary Axe, and who are managed via two practice groups: Global Property (led by Teresa Barrett, focusing on major UK and international clients) and Property Investors (led by Simon Robinson, focusing on UK and International real estate investment clients). His regional remit will further more include the property teams in The Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland and South Africa.

Matthias has over 13 years’ insurance and property underwriting experience in the UK, Dutch, Scandinavian and German markets and is joining AGCS from XL Insurance, Munich, where he was Underwriting Manager, Property, Risk Engineering and Construction.
