London, 12th November 2009 - Fitting a replacement part to get a broken home appliance working again can save you up to £100, new research from spare parts retailer eSpares reveals. Consumers can avoid the expense and uncertainty of call-out fees to repair companies by fixing it themselves.

Over a million people have already made similar savings by fixing their own appliances with parts from eSpares. Five of the most commonly replaced parts delivered average savings of more than £80. The largest savings was when replacing a dishwasher spray arm, with an average saving of £100.

The eSpares website (www.espares.co.uk) makes it easy to identify and find the right part for your appliance. Their expert phone team are on hand to help out if you get stuck. And their how-to videos show you exactly how to repair your appliance by fitting replacement parts.

Matthew Henton, Marketing Director at eSpares said “The cost savings speak for themselves. But it can also be much more convenient to fit parts yourself, at a time that suits you. How many of us have taken a day off work to wait for a workman who never arrives? It also gives you a great sense of achievement to fix it yourself.”

In addition to spares for large appliances like cookers, fridges and washing machines, eSpares make it easy to find parts for vacuum cleaners, with thousands of Dyson spares and Hoover parts. The eSpares Advice Centre contains videos and articles that help consumers to fix and maintain their own appliances.

The research was carried out between 5th and 10th November 2009. Three leading repair firms were asked to quote for five common appliance repair tasks. They were all given the same appliance make and model information and repair location. Repair charges include the cost of the spare parts. All figures quoted include VAT. A copy of the research is available on request.

eSpares was founded in 2004 and is the UK's leading domestic spare parts retailer. The company sells over half a million parts for over 500 brands of home and garden appliance and has over a million customers.
